The Early Days of The Oasis
The Oasis on Lake Travis started as an idea Beau Theriot had for a great restaurant on a hill. Back in 1979, Beau decided to buy a beautiful 500-acre plot of land along the shoreline of Lake Travis with just a ranch house on it. He envisioned a wonderfully successful and unique restaurant perched on top of one of the bluffs on this property. Beau’s motto has always been “Create Without Reservation!”
The Oasis - Thriving Cantina
By 1982 he had made some small renovations to the ranch house and opened it as The Oasis Restaurant and Cantina Del Lago. By 2005, The Oasis had grown to be one of the largest restaurants in the world and the biggest in Texas, seating 2,800 people. Most of the seating was outdoors with an outdoor entertainment venue. On June 1st, 2005, The Oasis was devastated by a huge fire. The restaurant remained open during the two years of rebuilding that followed, using only the remaining outdoor entertainment venue, and serving food out of a trailer.
The Oasis Now
Mr. Theriot had a new vision, and created a four-story dream facility: The Sunset Capital of Texas. The Oasis today seats close to 2,500 people. Each of several indoor/outdoor banquet and event spaces has a unique ambiance, ranging from rustic to formal. There is also an indoor entertainment facility with retractable roof panels on the third floor.
